SouthwestRe Announces Important Updates to its First Automotive Dent & Ding (PDR) Vehicle Service Contract

Sep 21, 2015

Albuquerque, NM (September 21, 2015) – As many drivers know, it’s not a matter of “if” your vehicle will get dented or dinged. All too often, it’s a matter of “when.” In an ongoing effort to make minor dents and dings a thing of the past, SouthwestRe announced today some important updates to its First Automotive Dent & Ding Vehicle Service Contract (VSC).

Also known as Paintless Dent Repair (PDR), Dent & Ding Protection is part of SouthwestRe’s line of service contracts sold under its exclusive First Automotive brand. PDR is intended for vehicles up to 20 years old with any mileage and with sheet metal body panels, and is available for sale at many franchise and independent dealerships throughout the country.

“The First Automotive PDR program is now available in almost every state, which means that many more customers will have the opportunity to protect their vehicles from dents and dings,” said Jamie Jerabek, Vice President of Underwriting and Product Development for SouthwestRe. “As of today, our updated Dent & Ding program is available in all 48 contiguous states and Alaska. We are all pretty excited about that.”

“There are new benefits for the selling dealer as well, “Jerabek said. “For example, after the customer returns the vehicle to the selling dealer for dent repair, the dealer can repair the vehicle with their own employed PDR technician, or they can use any outsourced PDR technician of their choice.”

PDR is an innovative program that removes small dents and dings up to 4” in diameter from painted sheet metal surfaces. Certified PDR technicians use specialized tools to manipulate and flex the metal back to its original form. This manipulation is done from behind the vehicle’s damage, so there is no need for sanding, painting, or body fillers. In most cases, there is no evidence a dent ever existed once the repair is complete.

Contract holders have unlimited usage of Paintless Dent Repair during the term of their service contract. In addition, there is no deductible to pay, and there are no reimbursement forms to file. On average, repairs can be completed in about the time required for an oil change. (Please note that this program does not cover any type of collision damage, sharp creases, large dents, hail damage, or surfaces where the paint has been damaged.)
